Open-source & Data Attributions

TourIts is built with open-source software and open data. This page credits the projects and data providers we rely on, including OpenStreetMap map data, which is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License. Each component remains under its own licence.

OpenStreetMap

OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0: https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright

Map data, places, opening hours and routes shown in TourIts are derived from OpenStreetMap. If TourIts creates or publishes a derived database from OpenStreetMap data, that database is made available under the ODbL as required. You can improve the map for everyone at https://www.openstreetmap.org.

Map search, places and routing services

  • Overpass API (public instance at overpass-api.de): querying OpenStreetMap data for places.
  • Photon by Komoot (photon.komoot.io): search-as-you-type geocoding, Apache License 2.0.
  • OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine) on the FOSSGIS server at routing.openstreetmap.de: travel time and distance calculations, BSD 2-Clause License.

All use data © OpenStreetMap contributors. TourIts currently uses these public instances within each service’s usage policy and will move to self-hosted or paid servers as usage grows.

Map tiles and rendering

  • MapLibre Native / MapLibre React Native: BSD 2-Clause License.
  • Map style and vector tiles: OpenFreeMap (https://openfreemap.org), based on OpenStreetMap data: “© OpenMapTiles © OpenStreetMap contributors”.
  • In development builds without the native map, raster tiles from the OpenStreetMap tile server (tile.openstreetmap.org) are used under the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s Tile Usage Policy.

Exchange rates

Exchange rates are provided by ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com), “Rates By Exchange Rate API” https://www.exchangerate-api.com. Rates are for information only and may be delayed.

Translation

Online translation is provided by MyMemory (https://mymemory.translated.net), a service by Translated. Pronunciation hints use content from Wiktionary (https://en.wiktionary.org), available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence. Offline translation models, when available, will be credited here with their licences.

Country and language data

Clerk phrases in 115 languages and the recording-consent country guide were compiled by TourIts from public sources and are provided for general information. Currency and country names may use data from the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR), Unicode License.
